Section 1 Fribourg–Plaffeien: 19 km
From the art and university city of Fribourg you follow the Galternschlucht (gorge) and a hilly route via St. Ursen (wooden storehouse) and Rechthalten (baroque church) to Plaffeien. Wonderful panorama of high plateaux and Jura.

Section 2 Plaffeien–Schwarzsee: 10 km
After the high plateaux, a pleasant pre-Alpine trail leads alongside the River Sense via Zollhaus to the natural spectacle of the Schwarzsee: romantic lake, waterfall and grotto, dominated by the peaks of Kaiseregg, Chällihorn and Schwyberg.

Section 3 Schwarzsee–Jaun: 10 km
Easy hike from the peaceful Schwarzsee lake over the primeval landscape of the Brecca Schlund (gorge) up to the Euschelspass. On the descent to Jaun: ruins of historic Bellegarde Castle with panorama panels and superb views deep into Gruyère country.

Section 4 Jaun–Soldatenhaus: 6 km
Enjoyable ascent on unsurfaced and surfaced paths to Châlet du Soldat. The landscape is dominated by the jagged Gastlosen chain; colourful flower meadows and lovely views back to the Euschelspass and to the surrounding mountains are a constant surprise.

Section 5 Soldatenhaus–Château-d'Oex: 24 km
From Canton Fribourg into Canton Vaud, from Châlet du Soldat to Château-d’Oex. In the «balloonists’ Mecca» everything focuses on the hot-air balloon. «Espace Ballon» with activities for all ages as well as permanent and temporary exhibitions.
